Progress Monitoring

If your child has an IEP, understanding how they are progressing through the academic curriculum is critical.  IEP goals should be monitored through a scientifically-based data collection process; this data should be reported at regular intervals which are determined by your child's educational team. If your student is not mastering goals each year, then changes in the frequency, duration or intensity of his or her instruction need to be considered.

Ohio Student Advocacy helps families understand how their child is performing year-over-year and how individual students are performing in comparison to typical peers.  A detailed analysis of your child's IEP goals, present levels of performance and progress reports can clarify if your student is making appropriate progress.

This crucial information can help you become an active and informed member of the IEP team that is making instructional decisions about your child.
